Biological Hazard No Smoking Sign in Manchester

from £26.82 ISO 7010 P002

Clinical waste stores and smokers' corners end up side by side more often than anyone admits. This sign settles it: the biohazard symbol for what is inside, and a clear smoking ban for the area outside.

About this product

Why combine the two? Because the place that holds clinical waste is usually a quiet bin store round the back of the building, and quiet corners round the back are exactly where staff and visitors go to smoke. One sign on the store answers both problems at once.

Care homes and surgeries in Greater Manchester

A care home in Swinton keeps its yellow clinical waste bins in a locked timber store beside the kitchen door. The store faces the car park, where night staff take their breaks. An A3 Dibond sign on the store door tells the waste contractor what is inside and tells everyone else to smoke somewhere else. A dental practice in Didsbury or a vet in Bramhall might use a vinyl version on the inside door of a small waste cupboard.

The mistake: a sign with no smoking area

Banning smoking at the bin store without saying where people can smoke tends to fail. Staff drift back within a week. If you are moving the smoking spot, mark the new one at the same time, and make sure it is far enough away that the ban makes sense. Your own risk assessment decides the distances and positions.

Board, size and delivery

Outside, Dibond copes with rain and is easy to wipe clean, which matters in a healthcare setting. Inside, Foamex is light and quick to fix. A3 suits most store doors. Prices start at £26.82. Production is 5 working days, then a tracked courier, usually 1 to 3 working days, at £7.95 per delivery or free once goods hit £100. More are in hazard signs.

Artwork checkEvery uploaded file is checked by a person for resolution, size and bleed.

What size should I order?

Pick a size people can read from where they will stand. As a cautious rule, using the distance-factor method in ISO 3864-1, allow roughly 1 metre of reading distance per 25 mm of sign height (measured on the shorter side). Check it against your own risk assessment.

SizeCan be read from about
A4 (210 × 297 mm)8 m
A3 (297 × 420 mm)12 m
A2 (420 × 594 mm)17 m
A1 (594 × 841 mm)24 m

Good lighting stretches the reading distance; in dim spots, go a size up.
