Danger Arc Welding No Admittance Sign in Manchester

from £22.73 ISO 7010 W001

The light from an arc can burn eyes from across a bay, and passers-by rarely realise. A DANGER strip at the gap in the screens stops apprentices, drivers and visitors wandering in without a mask.

About this product

At the gap in the screens

In a fabrication shop in Failsworth, the welding bays sit behind red PVC curtains along one side of the unit. The risk is at the opening: someone walks through to ask a welder a question while an arc is struck. The strip sign belongs right at that entry point, on the screen frame or the post beside the curtain. Being a strip, it reads from only a few metres, so fixing it on a far wall is the mistake to avoid. Put it where a person stands just before they enter.

Which strip suits a Manchester workshop

The 297 × 100 mm strip reads from about 4 metres and is the one for a bay entrance seen from the main walkway. The 200 × 50 mm version, good for roughly 2 metres, fits a narrow screen post or a booth door. Foamex suits the inside of a shop floor and can be cable-tied to frames. Vinyl goes straight onto smooth steel booth panels. Dibond is the pick if the welding area opens onto an outdoor yard.

Ordering the sign

Nothing needs designing. If you want a bay number or "Welder at work" added, we typeset it for £15. Prices start at £22.73. After 4 production working days, a tracked courier usually delivers in 1 to 3 working days for £7.95, or free above £100. Artwork checkEvery uploaded file is checked by a person for resolution, size and bleed.

What size should I order?

Pick a size people can read from where they will stand. As a cautious rule, using the distance-factor method in ISO 3864-1, allow roughly 1 metre of reading distance per 25 mm of sign height (measured on the shorter side). Check it against your own risk assessment.

SizeCan be read from about
200 × 50 mm2 m
250 × 75 mm3 m
297 × 100 mm4 m

Good lighting stretches the reading distance; in dim spots, go a size up.

FAQs

Short answers on ordering danger arc welding no admittance sign in manchester.

Why DANGER rather than CAUTION?

DANGER is kept for hazards that can kill or seriously injure, which makes it stand out among everyday caution signs on a busy shop floor.

Is a strip big enough?

For a bay entrance read at close range, it is. If people need to see it from across a large Greater Manchester workshop, add a bigger warning on the wall too.

Does it replace welding screens?

No. Screens, curtains and eye protection do the protecting; the sign keeps people from walking past them.
