Designing for a long, shallow banner

A 10ft x 3ft banner is more than three times as wide as it is tall, so it rewards a single line of text set large. A company name and one short phrase across the full width is the classic layout, with a logo at one end. Stacking several lines makes each one smaller and throws away the advantage of the width. If you need more detail than one line, an 8ft x 4ft banner is the better shape.

Being long, it is mostly read by people moving along it, on foot or in a car. That means the first few words carry the message. Put your name or the key offer at the left, where the eye starts.
