About this product

One zone, one sign

If your building is a single workshop with a mezzanine office, a two-tier holding system is overkill. One clearly named area by the back wall does the job. Tape the floor boundary in red, put the sign above it, and give the area a review day each week.

Fixing it high in a Rochdale workshop

Take a furniture maker on an industrial estate in Rochdale: offcuts, old jigs and spare fittings get red-tagged during the first sort. Too often the sign ends up at waist height on the wall, where the first stack of tagged boards hides it within a day. Mount it at about 2 metres instead, or hang it from the racking above the zone, so the name stays readable however full the area gets. An A3 is enough for a workshop where people are rarely more than 12 metres away.

Foamex is the easy choice indoors and fixes with pads or screws. Choose Dibond if the area is a lean-to or a covered yard bay exposed to Rochdale's damp. Vinyl works on a smooth painted block wall.

Pick a size people can read from where they will stand. As a cautious rule, using the distance-factor method in ISO 3864-1, allow roughly 1 metre of reading distance per 25 mm of sign height (measured on the shorter side). Check it against your own risk assessment.
