Car Park Speed Limit 20 mph Sign in Manchester

from £26.55

Large sites have access roads that are really small roads. Twenty sits comfortably there: slow enough for people walking from distant bays, yet fast enough that drivers do not dismiss it as unrealistic and ignore it.

About this product

Matchday car parks at Wigan grounds and across Greater Manchester

A rugby league ground's car park is a good picture. Thousands arrive in an hour, many from the motorway at speed, and the access road from the main road to the parking fields is several hundred metres long. Supporters walk along it from the overflow parking. A 20 mph car park roundel at the turn-in, readable at A1 from around 24 metres, and repeaters along the access road set a sensible pace before cars reach the parking rows.

Twenty does not belong in the aisles

The mistake is using this limit throughout. Twenty mph between rows of parked cars, with families walking to the turnstiles, is far too fast. Use it on the access road only, then drop to a lower limit, such as the car park 5 mph sign, where the parking starts. Stewards and good lighting do as much as the signs. The limits are set by whoever owns or manages the land.

Choosing board and size

  • 3mm Dibond on posts: the permanent access road.
  • 5mm Foamex: stiff and flat for a covered deck or multi-storey ramp.
  • 3.5mm Correx: overflow fields used for big events or a season.

A1 at the entrance, A2 for repeaters.

From £26.55. The design is complete; the venue's name can be added for £15 typesetting, and a person checks every file free. Production takes 5 working days, then a tracked courier usually needs 1 to 3 working days. Delivery is £7.95 per order, free once goods total £100. More in speed limit signs.

Artwork checkEvery uploaded file is checked by a person for resolution, size and bleed.

What size should I order?

Pick a size people can read from where they will stand. As a cautious rule, using the distance-factor method in ISO 3864-1, allow roughly 1 metre of reading distance per 25 mm of sign height (measured on the shorter side). Check it against your own risk assessment.

SizeCan be read from about
A3 (297 × 420 mm)12 m
A2 (420 × 594 mm)17 m
A1 (594 × 841 mm)24 m

Good lighting stretches the reading distance; in dim spots, go a size up.

FAQs

Short answers on ordering car park speed limit 20 mph sign in manchester.

Is 20 mph too fast for a car park?

For the access road, it is usually reasonable. In the parking rows, go lower.

Can Correx survive a season of matchdays?

For a season, yes, if it is fixed firmly. Dibond is better for years.

Can I collect it in Manchester?

Collect from our Manchester office at Unit 3, 116 Bury New Road, M8 8EB, once our email says it is ready.
