Christmas events in Altrincham and across Greater Manchester
Think of a town centre Christmas lights switch-on. Organisers want the event name and date on the main roads into town for a fortnight beforehand, then arrows to the stage and the market on the night. Permission comes first
Lamp posts belong to the highway authority, and putting signs on them usually needs its agreement. The mistake is ordering, fixing and then getting a call from the council asking for them to come down.
